With the participation of more than 100 women activists from the 5 regions of the globe, the process of training the first cohort begins. The Berta Cáceres School hopes to be a space for the exchange of knowledge constructed through the methodology of popular and feminist pedagogy, and will strive not only to impart knowledge, but also to build collective proposals around Feminist Economy. The school is centered around Feminist Economy. From it arise the strategies of resistance and the formulation of alternatives, in dialogue with themes such as Systems of Oppression, Body and Sexuality, Environment and Protecting Mother Earth, State and Democracy, Movement Building, and Feminist Theories. One of the goals of the school is to train facilitators who will have the responsibility of replicating the school in their territories, as well as serving as means of communication and feedback on the process from the local and regional levels. According to Sandra Moran, the idea is that the School will help to build “a common understanding of reality, with a political proposal that develops the Feminist Economy and results in the building of popular power and alliances that push this proposal forward.” The School has managed to coordinate schedules from across the world, overcome language barriers, and reinvent itself during the pandemic, by quickly developing tools that made it possible to migrate from the inicial in-person proposal to a virtual learning alternative. All of these triumphs, large and small, can only be a sign of a future full of success and victories.
