The Americas region began 2022 by launching the design process of its continental education process, an experience that is born from and is supported by the experience gained during IFOS 2021 and that aims to territorialize the analyses and approaches.
The school of Our America aims to strengthen the World March of Women in the region, through a process of political education, analysis and reflection, to expand its alliances, mobilize its efforts and resistance. The application process will begin in April and the school will be held every 15 days between May and September. The organizing team, initially comprised of Tita Goudines (Guat.), Norma Cacho (Mex) and Alejandra Laprea (Vzla), Alejandra Pérez and Mafalda Galdames (Chile) and Yamileth Gonzalez (Hon) states that the Abya Yala School is an territorial adaptation of the Berta Cáceres School that will position knowledge, thought and information in the Americas and its diversity of contexts. The school will make use of methodological materials, resources, knowledge and experience-based practices of both territorial organizations and the Berta Cáceres IFOS.
In addition, the organizing team points out that the pedagogy used is the one that springs from the womb of our movement, and we define it as popular, feminist and decolonial pedagogy. It is a space of training for action, not a space for the transfer of knowledge from “those who know more to those who do not know", it is a space for the exchange of knowledge and epistemic construction from the situated experiences of the subjects. It is intended for activists, militants and organizations of the World March of Women in the region, as well as allied organizations wishing to deepen their ties of cooperation.
