On this March 8, women in Chile once again spilled onto the streets, with a lot of contained anxiety after so much programmed confinement, and many organizations on a national level planned their presentations with joy, effort, and above all, with a fighting spirit; there was a lot of color in the costumes of the troupes of different groups that inaugurated chants, dances, and performances. This year the youth was the main protagonist of these poetic, musical, and rebellious protests against a capitalist regime that still seeks to impose its hegemony in the current government apparatus. And in the framework of 50 years since the civil-military coup, this year we march with a strong and clear slogan: Our history is resistance and rebellion.
Mujeres en Marcha (Marching Women) Chile, central focus of the World March of Women, was invited by the government to participate in the official ceremony, and two of our representatives were there, Angie and Danixa. We were also in the Regional Government of Valparaíso, where Mafalda attended as a presenter to talk about the role of a state with a feminist perspective, later participating in the multitudinous regional march in that city. In the afternoon, all our sisters attended the great march where thousands of women protested politically on the streets of Santiago.
